June 2005 - Glendale Meeting
Friday, June 24th, 2005IN CASE YOU MISSED IT… FRANKLIN CARTER
By Barry Roth, COMUFON News Co-Editor

Our June COMUFON meeting was held down in Greeley. Our guest speaker’s presentation was titled, “What About Them UFOs.” Franklin began by telling the audience that there are over 2600 space objects circling the globe. The U.S. has satellites that can measure as close as 1/8 th of an inch above the ocean’s surface to monitor oceanic affects such as those caused by El Nino. We have satellites that can transmit clear pictures of the moons of Saturn. However, NASA’s budget is 1/3 less today than it was 15 years ago.
A recent Life Magazine poll showed that 118 million Americans believe in UFOs. A Gallup poll indicated that 32 million Americans have seen a UFO. And 39 out of 42 Angelical Bishops believe there is life beyond our planet. Dr. Richard Haines has documented 3400 pilot sightings of unknown aerial objects. Lt. Col. Wendell Stevens has over 4000 military photos of unexplained objects in the sky. Franklin showed us a photo of a UFO over the Grand Canyon traveling at an estimated speed of 18,000 mph. His own family members have claimed sightings.
Franklin queried why certain events seem to be newsworthy and other supposed important events never make the newspaper. He spoke of how the drug Tylenol has killed 454 people but due to political posturing, this astounding tragedy doesn’t make the news. But yet the drug Ephreda was responsible for 6 deaths and resulted in Congressional hearings. Franklin asked the audience, “if your neighbor saw a truck run a stop sign you would most likely believe him.” But if that same neighbor reported seeing a UFO, you might question his sanity.
Franklin concluded by reviewing what do to if you see a UFO. You’re typically not mentally prepared for an event like this. So he gave us the following steps:
Immediately write down everything you saw… size, shape, color, movement, direction….
In Colorado call COMUFON ’s sighting hotline at 303-451-5992
If psychologically distressed, seek professional help
Attend UFO group meetings and discuss with others.
But whatever you do, don’t let people talk you out of your sighting!
