May 6, 2008: At 11:18 AM on the cloudless morning of Thursday, September 1, 1859, 33-year-old Richard Carrington—widely acknowledged to be one of England’s foremost solar astronomers—was in his well-appointed private observatory. Just as usual on every sunny day, his telescope was projecting an 11-inch-wide image of the sun on a screen, and Carrington skillfully drew the sunspots he saw.
This June we will travel to Greeley Colorado for our monthly state meeting. We will be one week early due to schedules so check our calendar and mark the date, time and location.

In early May, the ISS joins Jupiter and the stars of the Summer Triangle in a glittering pre-dawn sky. Alejandro Rojas
This month we welcome COMUFON’s own Alejandro Rojas. Alejandro will review recent Colorado UFO sightings as well as MUFON International and the MEDIA. It will be an interactive presentation with some thought provoking pictures and video, including a mysterious object filmed by a couple Greeley residents in Las Vegas, and the NEW alien autopsy video.Meeting time: 2 PM to 5 PM

To get there take the Auraria Parkway exit off of I-25 and head east. You will only go a couple blocks, and then take a right at 9th street. Then take your first right to get to the parking lot right in front of the Tivoli center. You will notice the Tivoli center by the very tall smoke stack with the word Tivoli written on it. This building used to be a large brewery around the turn of the century.
This month we welcome Travis Walton as guest speaker. His experience is unequivocally the most well-known and publicly documented case of alien abduction ever recorded.
On November 5, 1975 a group of loggers in the mountains of northeastern Arizona observed a strange, unusually bright light in the sky. One of those men, Travis Walton, recklessly left the safety of their truck to take a closer look. Suddenly, as he walked toward the light, Walton was blasted back by a bolt of mysterious energy. His companions fled in fear. When they reported the encounter with a UFO - something they would have considered impossible if they had not witnessed it themselves - the men were suspected of murder. For five days authorities mounted a massive manhunt in search of Walton - or his body. Then Walton mysteriously reappeared, disoriented and initially unable to tell the whole story of his amazing encounter.
Over time Walton began to remember incredible experiences aboard an alien craft during his disappearance. A well-known film called “Fire in the Sky” based on his book of the same title was released in 1993 by Paramount pictures. His on-board experiences were changed in the movie, but on March 8th you will have a chance to hear what happened first hand.

Our guest speaker for November was Dr. Claude Swanson. An MIT and Princeton educated physicist, Dr. Swanson has worked as a conventional applied physicist and has conducted extensive research into the physics of the paranormal. His new book, The Synchronized Universe-New Science of the Paranormal, describes the scientific revolution which is beginning to unfold in physics, and proposes how our present science may be expanded to account for these strange new discoveries.
